My good friend  Iva and I were hanging out in our local coffee bar, having tea when she whipped out the most incredible book I have ever seen.  It was a mermaid tunnel book she made full of little windows, sea shells, underwater plants, and fish.  She made it in one of John B Mc Rae's workshops at Castles in the air in Berekeley. I fell in love with it.

She was generous with her knowledge and I ran home to make one before I could forget everything she told me.

I didn't have all the supplies, but being me, I improvised, and the results rocked my world.

Each "page" is a one-of-a-kind ink and watercolor that I have cut out with a tiny blade.  Archival paper was folded and pasted to create the accordion spine.  The cover is chipboard covered with different papers and found objects.

    This is a little puppet theater.  The horse and little girl have parts that move and they are suspended by string.

    This is actually an ATC inspired by the tunnel book idea.  It is 2.5 x 3.5 inches and has it's own little wraparound cover.

    Another little paper theater.  Punch and Judy in love this time.  They are separate little stick puppets that can be moved in and out of the book.

    The Queen of Spring

    I was given a small crown as a gift last year and swore to myself that I would make one someday  Well someday came this week and what a great way to spend a sunny day.  I used some vintage erotica, German glass glitter, ribbons, hand painted paper flowers and vintage rhinestones.  I find it most beautiful, ZNE's Chelise tried it one and she looked like she could rule a the land of ZNE quite easily.   

     

     As I lead the Parade

    Another paper crown with Hand painted paper flowers, ephemera, velvet ribbon, German glass glitter and some powerful naked ladies!

    I wore this while doing dishes and I rocked the kitchen!  Heavenly.

    This is a pretty pink crown with lot's of  pretty Diva's on it.

     




    Domestic Bliss

    This crown has some blue velvet ribbon, big swords and beautiful men on it.




    Venus

    This one is my  favorite.  Reds, creams, and gold.

  • Halloween

     OK so it's spring not fall but I couldn't help it.  I'm getting some inventory ready for a fall show in Danville called Tinsel and Treasures so I started painting little trick-or-treaters.  This is a three dimensional shadow box, there are five, all different.  

    ...and I couldn't stop there, I decided to challenge myself and and make itty-bitty shadow boxes that you can wear.  They are incredibly small and sweet.
